The Current Situation
About one soldier in six is reporting anxiety, depression, or symptoms of PTSD. With a total number of soldiers having served in Iraq or Afghanistan now numbering about one million, perhaps as many as 100,000 soldiers will require long-term mental health care, assuming standard treatments. These veterans need assistance they are not currently receiving as they come home to rebuild their lives, their families and their businesses.
How Neurofeedback Can Help
Neurofeedback (EEG Feedback) is training in brain function based on information derived from the EEG (electroencephalogram). With such training, rapid recovery can be achieved for the relief of PTSD symptoms that include sleep problems, pain, anger, as well as drug, alcohol, and tobacco dependency. Neurofeedback is a subtle brain exercise that effectively "tunes" your brain to function better. It is a fitness strategy that suits the soldier's natural orientation toward a training and fitness program.
Veterans who have been through the program have shown tremendous positive benefits. One particular veteran was able to save his marriage by calming down his anger and need for complete control. Behaviors that had been appropriate in wartime were destroying his home life. Veterans are getting their lives back with Neurofeedback.
Hundreds of generous clinicians are building a nationwide program to provide Neurofeedback therapy for veterans. Through their dedicated efforts, the organization is committed to raising awareness about the seriousness of the effects of war on the lives of veterans and their families, and, thus, their effects on our whole community.
